Finish Strong!

Hey there! HAPPY LAST WEEK!

Please check the gradebook this morning to see if there are any grades that you need to work on. Whatever the gradebook says today at 5:00 PM is what will be written on your report card.

If your Composition grade is low, make sure you turned in your Memoir and Editorial. They are worth 250 points combined! If one of those assignments is missing, send it to me before 2:00 today, so I have time to score it and add the grade to the gradebook.

Open the gradebook and then click on the individual course link to see the list of scored assignments.

If you have a low grade in a course, it may be because...
  • You have lesson assessments and unit tests that were not mastered at 80% or higher.
  • You skipped lessons that were not optional.
  • You are behind in that course. As of today, all courses should be around 97% complete.
  • There are missing teacher-graded assignments in that course. (NOTE: All teacher-graded assignments were due on 6/9 with the exception of the Memoir and Editorial).
The last day of school is June 16. Continue schooling through Friday! All courses should be at 100% by the end of the week.

Finish STRONG!

I am so excited that one of my all-time favorite books, Wonder by R.J. Palacio, has been turned into a movie! I don't usually get too excited about the movie-version of books. After all, it's not easy to translate an amazing 300 page novel like Wonder into a 2 hour movie. However, I have to say that this trailer has sparked my interest. I'm looking forward to the movie next fall!

Check it out and let me know what you think.

If you haven't read Wonder, put it on your Summer Reading List.
Then you can watch the movie in November and compare the two!

I promise you'll like the story. Pinky swear.

The audio version is great too!

Happy Reading!

"Haiku" is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Haiku poems consist of 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme.

Character traits are all the aspects of a person's behavior and attitudes that make up that person's personality. Everyone has character traits, both good and bad. Even characters in books have character traits

Here is an example of a 100 point project

Notice the neat writing and carefully colored illustrations?
That's what I'm looking for!

Hey Washingtonians! Great job today! Here is today's lesson on Famous Washingtonians. You can use the information in this lesson to complete your poster.

Play, pause, and rewind as needed.

In addition to accurate information on your project, I am also looking for neat writing and colorful drawings. The area for drawing is small, so please color in the background too!

Here are a few more helpful websites that might come in
handy as you finish your project...
